About

Welcome to my personal website. If you’re interested, you can find various articles and information here about myself, projects I’m doing (or have done in the past) and anything else that I might find interesting to put on here.

Note that this website is a work in progress. Between writing my Master’s thesis, working as a TA and my personal life, I try to allocate some time each day to various side projects (this website being one of them).

After finishing secondary education in the summer of 2018, I went to Enschede to study computer science at the University of Twente. Shortly after beginning my studies, I also moved here and started life as a student.

During my Bachelor’s, I discovered many areas of the computer science world. I mostly discovered my passion for Computer Architecture, Operating Systems and Languages/Compilers. For me, diving deeper into these subjects often gave me an answer to questions that I would have before starting my studies.

MSc Embedded Systems Link to heading

For me, this was the most logical choice given my newly discovered interests, as it explores the intersection between the Hardware world and the Software world.

During my Master’s, I mainly dove into the hardware world. Primarily having knowledge from the computer science domain at that point, this was quite a steep learning curve, since hardware design is primarily a field occupied by Electrical Engineers.

Looking back on this choice, it made me very much aware of co-operation between hardware and software.

For my Master’s thesis, I’m conducting research on Fault Injection on RISC-V cores.

My most notable work experience at this point is my job as a teaching assistant (TA) at the University of Twente, where I assist in the teaching of various subjects of the computer science and electrical engineering bachelor programs. I’ve also aided in the development of a novel elective course titled “Intelligent Embedded Systems” which intends to bridge the gap between the CS bachelor and embedded systems master programs.

I have been at this job since the beginning of 2020 and have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. However, unfortunately this will soon come to an end as I wrap up my studies, but I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Future Work Goals Link to heading

In the near future, I will graduate and continue to earn a living doing what I love. Ideally, I would like to spend some years (in industry) applying one or more of the following (technical) specializations/passions: Digital Design, Hardware Security Primitives, Physical Attacks, RISC-V and anything open-source.

One more (non-technical) passion I discovered in the last years was my passion for teaching. The many interactions with students during my job as a TA have shown me the joys of teaching. Because of this, I would love to occupy a teaching position at a university (of applied sciences) at some point in my career.
